The $1400 list price might be difficult to swallow, but it is often offered for sale to make it more affordable. The unit is stunning and the base takes up very little room in the corner of your home.
This robot's design addresses some of the issues we have encountered with other robotic mop and vacuum units, like the brushes getting caught in hair, and the brush being unable to reach floors that are not covered by furniture. The sweeping capabilities are impressive on carpets and bare flooring. The vacuum/mop system is equipped with a high level of debris pickup, and the mop is able to soak up floors that are not soiled.
The mops also have an advanced system for cleaning around the edges of furniture and walls. The robot is able to easily get around obstacles such as toys, food bowls and backpacks. It can get tangled or stuck with smaller, less hefty objects like shoelaces and USB cables, and pens.
This robot was used to mop and vacuum hardwood floors FLOR carpet tiles, as well as pile rugs in a large open-plan home. It was able to vacuum and mop the 90m2 space in 170 minutes, with FREO Mind enabled. This is a bit more than average for Gen 4 robots.

Miele Scout RX3
Miele is no slouches in the world of robot vacuums and is known for its quality and innovation. The new Miele robot is designed to elevate the cleaning capabilities to a new level with its advanced features.
The RX3 has a dual-suction system and intelligent mapping that incorporates 3D mapping and cameras that send an image in real-time to your smartphone. The powerful four-stage cleaning system ensures excellent dust removal on carpet and hard floors, while its easy-to-use side brushes with a swing-out feature and two suction channels keep corners clean. Its 8.5 cm height allows it to reach under furniture with low levels. Front cameras and infrared sensor help it navigate obstacles, thresholds, and obstructions with ease.
In our test of how it cleaned baking soda near corners and on baseboards, the Scout RX3 was impressive. Its 2,500Pa suction was weaker than the other robots, however it was still quiet and moved quickly. It didn't clean, however, and its removable cleaning pads were difficult to attach and didn't deal with dried-on dirt.
Its app isn't equipped with advanced features, such as multiple cleaning modes or automated scheduling. It does support Alexa however, its voice controls aren't intuitive or responsive. It's also a bit sporadic when it comes back to the charging station after an exercise. Other robots can follow the wall or trace an earlier route however the RX3 bumbles around until it quits.
We also had issues with the smart features of the device, namely its mapping feature and the digital stay-out zones. While it did a decent job of avoiding our furniture legs and shoes, it got easily caught by cables and socks, and couldn't handle the tassels on carpets. We decided not to include the Scout RX3 on our Best Buy list. However, with a reasonable price tag and impressive performance, the Scout RX3 is worth considering if you're looking for an alternative to traditional uprights.
